Clinical Supervision

With the goal of supporting individuals wishing to become behavioral health clinicians in San Miguel County, BHS has created a Clinical Supervision program to help candidates fund supervision hours. Read more below for requirements for students and supervisors.

Requirements for candidates:

Candidate applies for supervision hours to be paid for through BHS. If approved, candidate will be reimbursed directly.

  • Candidate must be pursuing an LPC, LCSW, LAC, LP, or LMFT. They must meet all the requirements for seeking licensure and be serving clients who live and work in San Miguel.

  • Must agree to reimburse the County if within 24 months of receiving funding, if the student relocates out of the area and stops serving County residents or workers for any other reason. Priority will be given to those who plan to remain serving clients in SMC after supervision hours.

  • Once supervision hours are completed, clinicians must make a good faith effort to serve clients who might otherwise not receive behavioral health services, including but not limited to clients on Medicaid/Medicare, clients without insurance, low-income clients.

  • Candidates would need to agree to complete an exit survey to inform BHS on the quality of their supervision.

  • Each candidate is eligible for up to $2000 of funding per calendar year. Funding will be approved by the panel first come, first served. Candidates must reapply if they wish to receive funding for additional years.

Requirements for supervisors:

  • Supervisor must be a licensed professional counselor, addiction counselor, clinical social worker, psychologist, or marriage and family therapist. Supervisor and supervisee must meet the DORA required qualifications of their license type.

  • Supervisory services will be reimbursed at a rate of $100/hour of individual supervision, or $30/hour for group supervision.
